Two ISIS rest houses destroyed in Diyala

Iraqi forces destroyed two "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) rest houses in Hamrin Mountains, in north-eastern Diyala province, as part of ongoing clearing operations to prevent ISIS elements from regrouping in the area, the Diyala Operations Command said Wednesday (December 13th).

"The Iraqi air force carried out a carefully-planned operation deep into Hamrin Mountains, 65 kilometres north-east of Baqubah, and destroyed two rest houses, two vehicles, one motorcycle, and 25 barrels filled with weapons, ammunition and explosives," Lt. Gen. Mazhar al-Azzawi said in a statement.

"The combing operations are aimed at destroying the terrorists’ infrastructure and preventing them from returning and hiding, especially in mountainous and desert areas," he said.
