Diyala police nab 25 wanted men during Eid

The Iraqi police have arrested 25 individuals wanted for terrorism and other criminal charges, and dismantled a workshop for making explosives in Hamrin Mountains as part of the Eid al-Adha security plan, the Diyala police command said Wednesday (September 6th).

"There were no security breaches" during Eid, Diyala police chief Maj. Gen. Jassim al-Saadi said in a press conference.

Two "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) positions were destroyed, an ammunition and explosives cache and a number of IEDs were seized in al-Makhisa Orchards on Sunday, he said.

Twenty-five wanted individuals were arrested, including 11 terror suspects and 14 wanted for robbery, murder and kidnapping charges, he said.

"A workshop for rigging vehicles with explosives and making improvised explosive devices (IEDs) was seized in Hamrin Mountains," he added.

The workshop contained a number of explosive vests, IEDs and tools and materials for making them, he said.
