Iraqi forces thwart ISIS suicide attacks in southern Ramadi

Iraqi forces killed three "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements who were planning to blow themselves up in Anbar province, the Anbar Operations Command said Thursday (October 5th).

The three militants, who were wearing explosive vests, were killed in clashes with Iraqi forces in al-Tash in southern Ramadi, command spokesman Col. Mohammed al-Dulaimi told Diyaruna.

"The [would-be] suicide bombers had sneaked into the area from the desert with medium weapons and shoulder-mounted RPGs and were planning to attack nearby government sites," he said.

Following the incident, the joint forces launched a large-scale search operation to look for other terrorists who may be hiding in uninhabited buildings in the area, he said.
