ISIS terror cell dismantled in Anbar

Iraqi police in Anbar province have arrested 11 members of an "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) terror cell that was planning attacks on recently-liberated areas of Iraq, the Anbar police command said Wednesday (August 9th).

Operations are under way to look for three other members of the cell who managed to escape, the command said, adding that pictures of the fugitives were distributed at the province’s entrances and ground crossings.

"Special forces have over the past three days carried out carefully-planned operations that led to dismantling a dangerous terror cell that had entered one of the liberated cities to carry out attacks," Anbar police chief Maj. Gen. Hadi Kassar Erzaij told Diyaruna.

Eleven terrorists were arrested and a large amount of explosives, weapons, ammunition and money were seized in the operation, he said.
