An "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) terror cell was dismantled during a joint security operation in al-Karma, east of Fallujah, Iraqi police in Anbar province said Thursday (October 11th).
“The Counter-Terrorism Service, Rapid Response Forces, and the Iraqi Interior Ministry’s Intelligence Unit carried out a large-scale operation in three areas of al-Karma," Anbar police chief Maj. Gen. Hadi Kassar Erzaij told Diyaruna.
The joint forces arrested nine members of a terror cell that had been planning terrorist attacks, he said.
“We have been trying for several weeks to penetrate the cell, and we finally identified and arrested all of the cell's members,” he said.
“The operation represents an aspect of the close co-ordination between different security agencies,” he added.
