Iraqi forces uncover ISIS hideout in Anbar

Iraqi forces killed two "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements who were planning to blow themselves up and destroyed their hideout in Anbar, Iraq's Joint Operations Command said Thursday (April 5th).

"During a search operation west of Lake al-Tharthar, a security force from the Anbar Operations Command clashed with three militants wearing explosive vests who were hiding at an underground tunnel, after they refused to surrender," command spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasul said.

"Two of them were killed, while the third blew himself up," he said.

One of the militants was identified as Omar al-Fahdawi, a senior ISIS element who has been wanted for years by the Iraqi judiciary, he said.
