3 ISIS elements killed in western Anbar

Iraqi forces killed three "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements planning to blow themselves up in western Anbar, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said Tuesday (February 27th).

"Al-Jazeera Operations Command on Tuesday killed three [would-be] suicide bombers east of al-Bakr neighbourhood in Heet district, in a pre-emptive operation in co-operation with the Counter-Terrorism Service," the ministry said in a statement.

Two ISIS headquarters in the same area containing large quantities of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and explosive vests have also been destroyed, it said.

ISIS elements were planning to use the weapons to target vital facilities in Anbar, the statement said.
