A coalition airstrike killed a senior "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) leader in al-Qayyara, south of Mosul, the Iraqi Ministry of Defence said Tuesday (July 26th).
The individual was Abdullah Hussein, aka Abu Fares, a senior ISIL leader serving as a military force commander, the ministry said in a statement.
“Some other ISIL gunmen were also killed in the airstrike, which targeted Talul Nasser village near al-Qayyara, south of Mosul,” the statement said.
“The operation was based on co-operation between the Iraqi forces and international coalition,” it said.
