Coalition fighter jets on Thursday (July 14th) hit several "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) targets in al-Qayyara, south of Mosul, the Ninawa Operations Command said.
“Nine ISIL elements were killed Thursday morning in international coalition airstrikes in al-Kanus village in al-Qayyara sector,” Ninawa Operations Commander Nejim Edin Karim al-Jubury told Al-Shorfa.
Iraqi forces, backed by the coalition, made progress in the village as part of operations to liberate Ninawa from ISIL, he said.
"Other airstrikes destroyed a weapons and ammunition cache, a truck carrying a machine gun in al-Qayyara, a rocket launcher in Ajhala village, and a T-72 tank in al-Qayyara,” he said.
