Iraqi forces liberate 2 villages south of Mosul

The Iraqi army has liberated two villages in al-Qayyara, south of Mosul, from the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), Ninawa governor Noufel Hammadi said Tuesday (July 12th).

“Following battles with ISIL, Iraqi security forces, supported by the international coalition, have liberated Jahla and Zahilia, southern al-Qayyara,” Hammadi said.

“Other areas in al-Qayyara, especially residential and industrial areas, may be liberated in the coming hours,” he said.

Hammadi added that Iraqi forces have set up an operations room to advise with families in the area on safe corridors to exit combat zones.
