International coalition warplanes on Tuesday (June 21st) bombed secret "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) tunnels in southern Mosul's al-Qayyara district, leading to the death of several ISIL elements, Ninawa operations commander Lt. Gen. Najim Edin Karim al-Juburi said.
"Coalition warplanes on Tuesday carried out three airstrikes on secret ISIL tunnels in the areas of Dewayzat and al-Khabata in al-Qayyara," al-Juburi told Al-Shorfa.
The bombing led to their complete destruction and the death of at least eight gunmen, he said, adding that equipment and weapons were also destroyed in the airstrikes.
