Airstrikes target senior ISIL leaders south of Mosul

Senior "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) leaders were killed in international coalition airstrikes Wednesday (June 29th) targeting the group’s positions to the south of Mosul, the Ninawa operations command said.

Coalition fighter jets targeted ISIL positions in al-Haj Ali village near al-Qayyara to the south of Mosul, operations commander Nejim Edin Karim al-Jubury told Al-Shorfa.

"Several ISIL elements, including three senior leaders -- Jassim Mohammed Tohme, Khaled Samar Matar and Abdullah Saleh al-Sabawi -- were killed in the airstrikes," he said.

The raids were co-ordinated with the Iraqi side, he added.
