Iraqi forces clear Baghdad-Fallujah highway

Iraqi forces have cleared the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) from the highway connecting Baghdad, Fallujah and Ramadi, the Ministry of Defence said Tuesday (June 21st).

"Baghdad operations command has cleared the Baghdad-Fallujah-Anbar highway and the Iraqi flag has been flown over it," the ministry said in statement.

The highway is being cleared of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), the statement said.

Units from the Baghdad operations command also have taken full control of the railroad, the statement added.
