Iraqi forces begin manhunt inside ISIS pockets of Anbar

The Anbar Operations Command announced on Monday (May 22nd) the start of a military operation in Anbar to search for "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) pockets that are posing security threats to the province.

The areas to be cleared include al-Tabai, Bani Zayed and al-Kasrat in eastern Anbar, which are close to the western belt of the capital Baghdad, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

Clearing operations also will include Thameel and Wadi al-Qadhaf areas south of the international highway, which connects Baghdad, Amman and Damascus.

"The operation aims at cracking down on scattered ISIS pockets and cells in those areas," the statement said.
