2 ISIS suicide attacks thwarted in Baghdad

Iraqi forces thwarted two "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) suicide attacks in an operation north of Baghdad, the Baghdad Operations Command said Tuesday (January 23rd).

"Special operations troops have thwarted an ISIS attack in Baghdad involving two terrorists wearing explosive vests," commander Lt. Gen. Jalil al-Rubaie said in a press conference.

A third gunmen involved in the operation was also killed, he said.

The suicide bombers, along with the gunman, were captured through an ambush set up by joint army and Counter-Terrorism Service forces in al-Dhabitiya, north of Baghdad, before they carried out the attack, he said.
