Iraqi forces arrested eight "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements in a surprise raid and search operation east of Fallujah, Iraqi police in Fallujah said Tuesday (December 19th).
"Joint forces arrested eight wanted ISIS terrorists in a joint operation carried out by the local police and Counter-Terrorism Service in al-Karma city, east of Fallujah," Col. Ahmed al-Issawi of Fallujah police told Diyaruna.
The detainees were using fake IDs and hiding in a farm, he said, noting that a special unit was formed to raid their hideout after the security forces received intelligence on their whereabouts.
Evidence, weapons and explosives found at the location point to the detainees' intent to carry out terror attacks, al-Issawi said.
