At least 70 prisoners were found in a secret prison of the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) in Fallujah where Iraqi forces are currently waging a battle to free the city from the group.
The prison was found in the southern Fallujah neighbourhood of Nezal, Rajeh al-Issawi, rapporteur of the local Anbar government's security and defence committee, said Monday (June 20th).
"Most of the detainees were in a dire health condition, suffering from severe exhaustion due to hunger and thirst," al-Issawi told Mawtani.
"Most were taken to field hospitals for treatment due to their poor health and psychological condition," he said.
