The Iraqi police have arrested six "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) extremists who were using a building south of Fallujah as a hideout, the police in Fallujah said Monday (October 16th).
"The six terrorists formed an integrated ISIS terror cell," deputy Fallujah police chief Lt. Col. Mohammed al-Jamili told Diyaruna.
Among the arrested elements is Abu Abd al-Issawi, a senior ISIS leader involved in several terrorist operations, al-Jamili said.
"Iraqi forces have seized various weapons and bombs in their possession which they were planning to use in a terror attack," he added.
"All the detainees are classified as dangerous ISIS elements, and their arrest is a security achievement primarily credited to the local population's co-operation with the security forces," he said.
