International coalition targets ISIS positions in west Mosul

Acting on intelligence information provided by the Iraqi army, international coalition fighter jets targeted two forward positions for the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) in western Mosul, Iraq's Joint Operations Command said Friday (June 9th).

"International coalition fighter jets have targeted two ISIS sites in Mosul's Old City -- in Sheikh Fathi and al-Zanjili areas," command spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasul told Diyaruna.

The strikes killed 24 extremists and destroyed one vehicle packed with explosives, in addition to various weapons and equipment, he said.
