Iraqi forces on Monday (June 5th) arrested a senior "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) element west of Baghdad, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said Tuesday.
"Special operations forces had tracked a senior ISIS element and arrested him in a carefully-planned operation," ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Saad Maan said.
The Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency, supported by ground forces, arrested "Nasr Abboud, a senior ISIS terrorist and a member of the so-called wilayat al-Fallujah, as he tried to enter the capital", Maan told Diyaruna.
"He was taken into custody and is undergoing investigation before he is brought to court," he said.
