A team of commandos from the international coalition killed two "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) operatives in Syria in a raid over the weekend, a US defence official confirmed Tuesday (January 10th).
The defence official told AFP that two ISIL operatives had been killed in the Deir Ezzor operation, including Abu Anas al-Iraqi, a "senior operative".
The two men were killed in a vehicle on an isolated highway about 50 kilometres from the city of Deir Ezzor, in a raid conducted by commandos from the international coalition , the official said.
