Successful operations target terrorist hideouts in Anbar

An airborne force from the Anbar Operations Command’s 2nd Commando Regiment conducted a high-level security operation in al-Sakar in western Anbar Thursday (September 26th), Iraq’s Security Media Cell said in a statement.

The force found seven hideouts and one cave used by "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements as shelters, the statement said.

"The hideouts contained 360 locally-made improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 42 anti-tank landmines, 200 RPG-7s, 95 guided thermal missiles, 575 ammunition of various types, 18 containers of ammonium nitrate, anti-tank mines, C4 and TNT explosives and fuel tanks," it added.

"The successful operation is part of the Iraqi forces' continuous efforts to target ISIS remnants in the western desert," it said.
