Iraqi army targets ISIS hideout in Anbar desert

An Iraqi army force has destroyed an "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) hideout in Anbar's desert, the Anbar Operations Command said Friday (July 14th).

The army, backed by aerial support, "rolled into Wadi Thameel, south of Anbar's desert, on Friday and conducted large-scale comb-and-search operations after it received information about ISIS activity in the area," command spokesman Col. Mohammed Talib al-Dulaimi told Diyaruna.

"Our forces found a cave containing two vehicles packed with explosives, a vehicle set for transport and a fuel storage tank," he said.

They also found and fully destroyed an underground ISIS hideout containing explosives, weapons and ammunition, he added.

"ISIS elements fled the place after the arrival of Iraqi forces," he said.
