ISIS rapidly losing territory in western Anbar

Iraqi forces have recaptured towns and villages from the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) as they prepare to storm the western Anbar cities of al-Qaim and Rawa, Anbar Operations Command said Wednesday (November 1st).

“Iraqi forces have liberated and fully controlled the two towns of Saada and al-Obaidi, as well as five villages," Anbar Operations Commander Maj. Gen. Mahmoud al-Falahi told Diyaruna.

They have reached the outskirts of al-Qaim and Rawa and are preparing to storm these areas, he said.

By Wednesday, he said, "we had retaken more than one-third of the target area which we want to liberate, and we are now preparing to advance on the ground towards the centres of the two towns".

“We have sufficient forces for this purpose, and we have broken the first ISIS defence line around the two towns,” he said, adding that ISIS suffered "heavy human casualties" in Wednesday's battles.
