ISIS Rawa shelter destroyed in airstrike

An "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) position used as shelter and weapons' cache was destroyed at a late hour Thursday (October 19th) in an airstrike in western Anbar, the al-Jazeera and al-Badiya command said.

"International coalition fighter jets targeted an ISIS position in Rawa used for sheltering ISIS fighters and storing weapons, killing 13 terrorists and destroying about 1,000 kilogrammes of weapons, explosives and rockets," commander Maj. Gen. Qassim al-Mohammadi said.

The airstrike paves the road for Iraqi forces to advance and liberate the town, he told Diyaruna.

Meanwhile, Iraqi aircraft continued to drop leaflets containing instructions to citizens in Rawa to avoid ISIS locations, stay at home and keep away from windows.

The leaflets instructed citizens to "listen to the dedicated military radio station which the army set up to regularly advise them of developments", al-Mohammadi said.
