Iraqi forces inch closer to heart of Mosul

Joint Iraqi forces are racking up successes on the ground in Mosul after taking back al-Farouk area and large parts of Bab al-Toub at the heart of the Old City from the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), Federal Police Chief Lt. Gen. Raed Shaker Jawdat said on Tuesday (April 18th).

"Joint Iraqi forces have been making steady progress since dawn on Tuesday amid ongoing battles and clashes with ISIL," Jawdat told Diyaruna.

"Iraqi forces have retaken the so-called ISIL ‘health office’, and have killed at least 20 terrorists," he said.
