Senior ISIL leaders killed in coalition strikes in Mosul

Four senior "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) leaders were killed in international coalition airstrikes in west Mosul, the Iraqi Ministry of Defence said on Tuesday (April 4th).

"Acting on intelligence provided by the Iraqi Ministry of Defence’s Intelligence Directorate, international coalition fighter jets launched several airstrikes targeting ISIL positions in al-Tanak neighbourhood in west Mosul," a ministry statement said.

Several ISIL leaders were killed in the strikes, including Hazem al-Jubury, also known as Abu Qais, who was in charge of ISIL's police in al-Tanak; and Mohammed al-Bajari, also known as Abu Shahin, in charge of al-Islam Battalion in the neighbourhood.

Also among those killed were ISIL's military commander in al-Tanak, Qaydar al-Aqrawi, known as Abu Solaiman al-Kurdi; and Saudi national Jahed al-Anzi, or Abu Mustafa, who was in charge of ISIL's zakat office in the neighbourhood, the statement said.
