Despite bad weather, Iraq announces gains in Mosul Old City

Iraqi forces on Friday (March 17th) gained ground from the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) inside the Old City of Mosul despite bad weather conditions, the Joint Operations Command said.

"Joint forces have retaken al-Basha Mosque, al-Adala Street, the Bab al-Saray market and al-Falaka area" in the Old City, command spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahiya Rasul told Diyaruna.

"In spite of the bad weather, rain and low temperatures, operations are ongoing and the morale of our forces on the ground is high," he said. "They are determined not to waste any time and to keep making progress."
