Iraqi forces arrested three "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) elements in the Karbala desert who were involved in an attack on a wedding party in Ain al-Tamr on August 28th that killed 18 people , Central Euphrates Operations Command said Thursday (October 6th).
“The security and intelligence agencies recently launched a carefully-planned operation deep into the western desert in Karbala province, and arrested three ISIL elements engaged in transporting vehicles packed with explosives from al-Jazeera sector to central Euphrates provinces,” Central Euphrates Commander Maj. Gen. Qais al-Muhammadi said in a press conference on Thursday.
“The detainees confessed to their involvement in transporting the suicide bombers who had entered Ain al-Tamr, western Karbala, and blew themselves up last August at a wedding killing and wounding dozens of citizens,” he said.
