Iraqi forces in a Tuesday (September 13th) surprise attack liberated the area of al-Harareyat to the north of Baiji in Salaheddine province from the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), Iraqi federal police said.
"The federal police and army forces on Tuesday evening fully liberated al-Harareyat, including the plants and factories in the western part of the area, during a large-scale, surprise attack," federal police chief Maj. Gen. Raed Shaker Jawdat said.
ISIL elements were expelled from the area after the group incurred heavy losses in the attack, he added.
