Senior ISIL leader killed in northern Baghdad province

A senior leader in the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) group was killed in an international coalition airstrike in Baghdad province, the Iraqi Ministry of Defence said Monday (August 1st).

“Based on intelligence co-ordination between the Counter-Terrorism Agency’s Intelligence Unit and the National Intelligence Agency, international coalition fighter jets launched an airstrike, killing the so-called wali of northern Baghdad province and a big group of his ISIL aides during their meeting north of Baghdad,” the ministry said in a statement.
