Iraqi forces kill 7 ISIL fighters in Heet

Iraqi forces in the city of Heet killed seven "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) fighters on Friday (July 8th), the Iraqi army’s al-Jazeera Operations Command announced.

“Iraqi forces carried out a ground combat operation targeting ISIL rest houses and hideouts in al-Dulab, western Heet, killing seven ISIL elements and destroying a mobile rocket launcher and four vehicles, including one packed with explosives that tried to attack the Iraqi forces,” army commander in the area Maj. Gen. Qassim al-Mohammadi told Al-Shorfa.

“International coalition fighter jets provided support to the army’s operations at dawn, and helped foil an attempt by ISIL to encircle our forces using two vehicles packed with explosives and a vehicle carrying gunmen," he said.
