Iraqi forces have started advancing towards the city centre of al-Shirqat in Salaheddine province, clearing more and more areas in the battle to liberate the city from the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), the Ministry of Interior said in a Thursday (June 30th) statement.
"More than 15 kilometres between al-Shirqat intersection and the city centre have been cleared by the counter-terrorism agency and Iraqi army forces," the statement said.
"Talul al-Baj is one of the liberated areas," the statement said.
"We will declare victory and fully liberate the city in record time," it added.
