Iraqi forces on Monday (June 20th) launched a large-scale military operation to free the area of Zangura in northern Ramadi from "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) control, the Defence Ministry said in a statement.
"An operation began today to liberate the area of Zangura towards Albu Risha in northern Ramadi from the filth of ISIL's terror gangs," the ministry said.
"The heroes of Anbar operations command's commandos brigade and the Anbar police tactical regiment, with support from the 16th Division artillery and the army's air force, are taking part in the liberation operation and are now engaged in fighting to drive ISIL out of the city," the statement said.
