Iraqi troops nab 3 ISIS female elements in al-Hawijah

Iraqi authorities announced on Monday (December 17th) the capture of three "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) female elements in al-Hawijah, Iraqi News reported.

"A force of the National Security Service in Salaheddine province arrested three female ISIS militants, who are wanted by Iraqi judiciary on terrorism charges," the Security Media Centre said in a statement.

"The trio, who served as ISIS biters, were handed over to the relevant authorities for legal action," the statement added.

During its occupation of Iraqi territory, ISIS introduced a new torture tool, "the biter", to punish women who violate its dress code.

The biter is an old instrument of torture, which was used in the middle ages. It leaves deep wounds that are difficult to heal.
