ISIS cell dismantled in Ninawa

Iraqi forces uncovered a nine-member "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) cell in several operations carried out over the past few hours in areas in and outside of Mosul, the Ninawa Operations Command said Thursday (August 23rd).

"Army forces, assisted by the Military Intelligence Directorate, arrested seven active ISIS members involved in various terrorist attacks and operations," commander Nejim Eddin Karim al-Jubury told Diyaruna.

"Continuous monitoring for more than one month has netted the terrorists, together with weapons and explosives in their possession," he said.

Two members of the cell who managed to escape are being chased, he said, adding that their pictures were distributed to all checkpoints.
