32 ISIL gunmen killed in Anbar operations

Iraqi forces killed 32 "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) gunmen in military operations across Anbar province over the last two days, the Ministry of Defence said Monday (October 3rd).

The army's 7th Division conducted several operations and surprise attacks on Saturday and Sunday in al-Zawya, Albu Thiab, Albu Ali and al-Jawana, killing 32 ISIL elements, including foreign fighters, the ministry said in a statement.

"Senior elements were among those killed in the operations," the statement said, adding that "prominent ISIL member Bashir Soufi was also arrested in the operations".
