ISIL commander killed in Ninawa

An "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) field commander was killed in an artillery attack targeting the group's positions on the outskirts of Mosul, the Kurdish region's security council said Thursday (September 29th).

"Peshmerga artillery units killed ISIL leader Abu Jarrah, who was in charge of the Mosul Dam area, in an attack on ISIL positions in Tel Keppe, north of Mosul," the council said in a statement.

"Arshad Ahmed Saleh al-Obeidi, also known as Abu Jarrah, is a native of Albu Youssef village in Ninawa province," the statement said. "We received information on his whereabouts and targeted him."
