Iraqi forces kill over 30 ISIL fighters in battle for al-Khalidiya Island

Iraqi forces killed over 30 "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) elements in battles east of Ramadi, Anbar police command said Tuesday (July 26th).

“Violent battles broke out Monday and continued until Tuesday morning in al-Khalidiya Island, 20 kilometres east of Ramadi, between joint Iraqi forces, supported by international coalition fighter jets, and ISIL gunmen, in which more than 30 ISIL terrorists were killed and six of their vehicles and two mortars were destroyed,” Anbar police chief Maj. Gen. Hadi Kassar Erzaij told Diyaruna.

“Operations will continue until al-Khalidiya Island is liberated from ISIL like all other cities in the province,” he said.
