Iraqi forces killed 10 "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements in a military operation near the Syria border in western Anbar, the commander of the Iraqi Army’s 7th Division, Maj. Gen. Numan al-Zawbaie, said Wednesday (August 8th).
"Acting on tip-offs about the infiltration of several ISIS elements into the area, security forces from the 7th Division’s 28th Brigade, supported by the army’s warplanes, kicked off a security campaign focusing on desert areas near the Syria border," al-Zawbaie said in a statement.
Security forces destroyed six explosive vests, one vehicle and one motorcycle, and seized various weapons in the operation, he said.
