5 suicide attacks thwarted across Iraq over past 24 hours

Iraqi forces have thwarted five suicide attacks over the past 24 hours in different areas across Iraq, the Interior Ministry said Friday (July 28th).

"Security forces thwarted two suicide attacks in Fallujah and al-Baghdadi in Anbar province and another attack in Salaheddine’s Baiji," ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Saad Maan told Diyaruna.

"Another suicide attack was foiled last night in Baghdad, as well as an attack targeting a café in Diyala in which two civilians were lightly wounded" after the police chased the attacker away from his target and shot him, detonating his explosives.

"These achievements were made thanks to the help and co-operation of local residents and the vigilance of the police’s intelligence cells," Maan said, noting that all attempts were targeting civilians.
