Iraqi security forces arrested two "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) leaders during separate Thursday (September 1st) raids in northern and western Baghdad province, the Federal Police said Thursday (September 1st).

“A force from the Iraqi Federal Police’s intelligence this morning carried out a raid and search operation in al-Tarmiya, northern Baghdad, arresting Abu Abdullah al-Mashhadani, the person in charge of surveillance in ISIL's so-called Northern Baghdad Province," Federal Police Chief Maj. Gen. Raed Shaker Jawdat said during a Baghdad press conference.

“Meanwhile, a force from the 8th Brigade’s intelligence on Thursday morning arrested Khalaf al-Zubaie, the person in charge of administrative affairs in ISIL's 'Southern Province' al-Hamza battalion, in a security operation carried out in al-Zaidan, Abu Ghraib,” Jawdat said.
