2 senior ISIL leaders arrested near Baghdad

Iraqi forces arrested two senior "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) leaders and discovered secret sites used in training suicide bombers, federal police chief Maj. Gen. Raed Shaker Jawdat said Thursday (July 21st).

“The 8th Brigade, supported by the Counter-Terrorism Agency’s Intelligence Unit, arrested two leaders of the so-called south wilaya at a house in al-Zidan, 24 kilometres south-west of Baghdad,” he said at a press conference.

During the operation, Iraqi forces discovered "several secret sites for training suicide bombers" and a large quantity of explosive-making material, Jawdat said.
