Two "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements have been arrested in an operation carried out by the Iraqi army’s intelligence forces in the town of al-Baaj in south-west Ninawa, the Ninawa Operations Command said Monday (August 19th).
"Security forces raided a residential building in al-Jaghaifi neighbourhood, south of al-Baaj, where two ISIS militants were found," commander Maj. Gen. Numan al-Zawbaie told Diyaruna.
A vehicle being rigged with explosives was also found in the yard of the building, he said.
"Our forces removed the vehicle and explosives to a safe place and took the terrorists to a security detention facility pending their handover to judicial authorities," he added.
