All streets to be reopened in Baghdad

All side roads in the Iraqi capital Baghdad will be reopened at the order of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, the Baghdad Operations Command announced on Thursday (July 26th).

"All side roads in Baghdad will be reopened and support will be provided to all concerned departments in addressing the illegal use of electricity and water networks," the command said in a statement.

The command’s engineering capabilities will provide support to service departments in the capital, the statement said.

The Ministry of Education also will be supported with school reconstruction, and the Ministry of Health will be supported with medical facilities, it added.

The plan is part of a programme to put an end to traffic jams and help resume services in the capital, the statement said.
