6 ISIS elements killed in Samarra

Six "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements were killed in a joint operation in al-Farhatiya in south-west Samarra, early Monday morning (June 18th), the Samarra Operations Command said.

Joint forces clashed with the six militants for more than 30 minutes before killing them, command spokesman Col. Ahmed Effat told Diyaruna.

"Weapons, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), explosives, ammunition, laptops, cell phones and amounts of money in hard currencies were seized," he said.

"One of the militants, who were all Iraqis and wanted for terrorism-related charges, is a senior ISIS element," he said.
