Iraqi forces arrested 22 "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements wanted on terror-related charges in a series of operations in Mosul, Tel Kaif, Tal Afar and al-Qayyarah, Ninawa Operations Command said Tuesday (May 29th).
The arrests, carried out over the last week, were based on arrest warrants and were carried out with assistance from local residents, Ninawa Operations Commander Nejim Edin Karim al-Jubury told Diyaruna.
“Light weapons and locally-made bombs found in the possession of some of [the defendants] also were seized,” he said.
“A large weapons cache also was found, and a mass grave of victims killed by ISIS was located based on confessions of three arrested terrorists,” he added.
