Iraq repels ISIS infiltration attempt from Syria

Joint Iraqi forces blocked 10 "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements who were attempting to cross the border from Syria late Wednesday (February 21st), the Anbar Operations Command said on Thursday.

The ISIS elements were trying to enter Iraq through al-Qaim in western Anbar, command spokesman Col. Mohammed al-Dulaimi told Diyaruna.

"They were taking advantage of bad weather conditions and darkness," he said, adding that "six terrorists were killed after they were engaged, and the others withdrew back into Syria".

Two soldiers were wounded in the clashes and are in a stable condition, he added.
