Large ISIS camp destroyed in Anbar desert

Iraqi warplanes destroyed an "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) camp in Anbar’s desert, the Ministry of Defence said Tuesday (October 10th).

"A large, camouflaged ISIS camp, in the form of cracks that were dug in the desert, has been spotted," the ministry said in a statement.

The army’s warplanes shelled the camp, destroying 15 vehicles and three large electric generators, and burning tents of various sizes, the statement said.

"There are deep cracks in adjacent hills holding large containers," it said, noting that a convoy of Iraqi troops was dispatched to the camp.

The camp, located in Kilo 160, lies 40 kilometres west of the international highway in Anbar, the statement said.
