Al-Baghdadi relative killed in Mosul strike

Iraqi airstrikes in western Mosul over the past two days killed five senior "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) leaders, including a relative of ISIL chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the Federal Police said Thursday (April 20th).

"Our forces are targeting ISIL field commanders through targeted airstrikes and intensified intelligence on their movements in the back lines," police chief Lt. Gen. Raed Shaker Jawdat said.

Senior ISIL commander Abdullah al-Husseini, a relative of al-Baghdadi, was killed in the airstrikes, he said.

The strikes also killed "terrorist Abu Baraa al-Daghestani, a military commander, and his aide Abu Abdul Rahman al-Zamari in al-Jisr al-Khames area, north of the Old City", Jawdat said.

"Khaled Ali Nada, chief of the zakat diwan; and Qadhi al-Dam, known as Abu Hussein, were also killed when their location was targeted in al-Zanjili neighbourhood," he said.
